ASSI - Will.i.am the lead singer of the "Black Eye Peas" was on Oprah last making good on a promise to give back, inspired by his mother who raised him alone, and President Obama's call to Americans to bring positive change to America caused Will to step up to the plate. He created a scholarship fund for a high school senior, raised by struggling single mother who, is unable to finance her child's college education. Will was presented with four letters from Jaiquann, Elijah, one set of twins Darien and Barien, all friends who live in the same neighborhood, and are track stars at their high school in Delaware. Will was interested in providing an applicant with free room and board, books, and paid college tuition for four years. Will was impressed with all four applicants but couldn't settle on just one so he decided to fund all four.The young men were flown to Chicago under the pretence that they were going to discuss how the recession has effected their inability to attend the colleges where they were accepted. All of the guys were outfitted with college paraphernalia of their perspective colleges. What a wonderful commitment to enriching America. I am thankful to all of the philanthropist who invest in education.
