D.B. Woodside as Malcom Franks

VH1's new show Single Ladies is Hot Hot Hot
and I attribute all the hotness to D. B. Woodside who Plays Malcom Franks a wealthy Jewelry store owner. This man lights up every frame that features him. Single Ladies also stars Stacey Dash, LisaRaye McCoy, and a host of other talented actors. But I have to admit that I am distracted by David Bryan Woodside. Woodside is good eye candy but is not the only good looking cast member. The cast consist of other good lookers like: Common, Pilar Sanders, and Lauren London to name a few others who provide a good look for the show.

Woodside is a talented actor with a large body of work, but I most remember his portrayal of Melvin Franklin in the Temptations (1998), sexy then and sexier now. Forgive me ladies but the spot light is on Malcom Franks. Currently, I am enjoying the show, nice to see a well written scripted show on tv, nice diversion from all of the trash that's on VH1 like Basketball Wives that features one wife and is a whole lot to do about nothing. Looking forward to its demise and cancellation. Sorry Royce, the only person on the show that I did care for, she seems to be more grounded and centered unlike the rest of the cast. Could go on and on but refuse to give anymore time to that joke of a show, Shauney O'Neal is exploiting and taking full advantage, but if the women are willing to sell themselves short for a dollar why not use them.

Back to Malcom Frank and the Single Ladies. I am a fan of LisaRaye and that love scene between Keisha Green and Malcom was steamy but not too hot, gave the viewers just enough without showing too much, which was tastefully done. Don't know if LisaRaye presented her Reality Show "The Real McCoy" to VH1 prior to inking the deal with TV One, if so it truly was VH1's loss and TV One's gain. For what Realty TV is worth, I watched her show and loved the family connection and seeing her regain her celebrity, and shedding the excess baggage of her former husband.

I have digressed again from my focus which is Woodside who has actively worked in television since 1997, unless the tvrage.com information is wrong. However, his Bio is impressive and too long to reference here but worth checking out. VH1 likens his character to Sean Combs not hardly, please, no comparisons needed. Woodside's character Franks stands in the light alone, when it comes to sex appeal, being suave, and charismatic he does not compare to anyone but himself and based on this character, I vote him as one of People's Magazines Sexiest Men Alive. How do I enter his name, is what I want to know?

Kudos to the casting director for casting Woodside and thanks to Queen Latifah and her Production team for joining forces with the show's creature Littlejohn. Ms. Littljohn also specifically wrote and created Keish Green for LisaRaye McCoy. From what I heard, VH1 was not interested in the show because the powers that be felt there wasn't an audience for the show based on demographics. Vh1 wanted a show that appealed to a younger audience. Glad to know VH1 took another look and is given this show a chance, more shows like this are needed, and there is an audience for quality shows featuring African American Actors. Thus far the story lines are good: Political scandal, Affairs, Thievery, Sex, and no alcohol induced Drama.

Naomi Upset Over Chocolate Bar Ad

Is this a publicity stunt to garner more sells for Cadbury's Dairy Milk Bliss Bar or is it a slow week for Naomi? For some being compared to a chocolate bar is a compliment. When I saw this story posted on Yahoo, I had to learn more; therefore, I clicked on the link and discovered a flew of stories regarding Naomi's dislike to being liken to a chocolate bar. This picture is the only reason that I copied this story (her legs are to die for) from Mail online, by Ryan Kisiel. I thought this was funny and worth sharing, just cannot believe that she is actually upset. Please read the article and let me know if you think this is worthy of a boycott.

Naomi Campbell is considering taking legal action against Cadbury after claiming a ‘racist’ advertisement compares her to a chocolate bar.
The supermodel said she was shocked and hurt to see her name on billboards and in newspapers next to the Dairy Milk Bliss bar.
Black civil rights groups have urged shoppers to boycott products of Cadbury’s U.S. parent company, Kraft Foods.

And Miss Campbell, who is known for being litigious, said she is currently considering taking ‘every available option’ over the adverts that appeared in a national newspaper last week and in supermarkets, reading, ‘Move over Naomi, there’s a new diva in town’.

She said: ‘I am shocked. It’s upsetting to be described as chocolate, not just for me but for all black women and black people.I do not find any humour in this. It is insulting and hurtful.’
Her mother, Valerie Morris, supported her daughter’s stance, saying: ‘I’m deeply upset by this racist advert.

Do these people think they can insult black people and we just take it? This is the 21st century, not the 1950s. Shame on Cadbury.’

Black rights group Operation Black Vote has called for Cadbury to apologise after receiving dozens of complaints about the advert from members of the public.

Simon Woolley, from the group, said that without an apology, the ‘only recourse black people have is not to buy its chocolate’.
He has written to the American civil rights activists Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson to ask them to mobilise the country’s Afro-American population in a boycott of Kraft goods.

‘I want them to know what their parent company is doing in Europe. I’ve asked them to support us,’ he said.
Being likened to chocolate was as bad as being called a golliwog for black people, he added.
‘Racism in the playground starts with black children being called “chocolate bar”.

At best, this is insensitive – and at worst it demonstrates Cadbury’s utter disregard for causing offence. Its lack of apology just adds insult to injury.
‘It’s particularly galling because we’ve just had a week that saw the establishment fall over themselves to be close to the Obamas and yet black people are being derided in such an insulting and negative way.'

Lee Jasper, who was senior equalities adviser to Ken Livingstone when he was London’s Mayor, said: ‘This issue is not just about the insult to Naomi Campbell. It’s about how these companies treat black people in general. Part of the problem is that they don’t see it as offensive.’
Kraft Foods said the poster has been removed and there are no plans to repeat it.
A statement read: ‘It was certainly never our intention to cause any offence and the campaign itself is a light-hearted take on the social pretensions of Cadbury Dairy Milk Bliss.’

Is this really worth boycotting Cradbury?
