Slumdog Millionaire
ASSI – “Slumdog Millionaire” is the film that everyone is talking about, so I had to see it, and what a movie. I immensely enjoyed this coming of age film that is about two brothers who are orphaned after their mother is killed by an attacker. Jamal is smitten by Latika a little girl from the neighborhood who is also without relatives. Jamal the main character is captured and interrogated by the Mumbai police because the host of India’s version of “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire” is under the impression that he cheated. The host, Prem Kumar played by Anil Kapoor disbelieves that a child from the streets could know the answers, but Jamal and his brother Salim are faced with various obstacles that provides the answers to the questions, hence the movie’s premise. The Directors, Danny Boyle and Co-Director Loveleen Tandan who is from India did an exceptional job of telling this story. As I see it, this is a film worth seeing and owning, the cast especially the child actors are fantastic, “Slumdog Millionaire” is actually worthy of an academy award nomination. I give “Slumdog Millionair” 4.5 blinks.
